This page will be used to answer common questions related to the technology we work with everyday at school.
1.) How can I access my email when I am not at school?
You can find the answer to this question here.
2.) I am having trouble entering grades and working with attendance in INow. Can you please provide some resources to help?
There are many helpful resources and tutorials here.
3.) My MacBook is taking forever to start up, and is running very slow, how can I fix this?
This could be one of several issues. Please contact Mary Manolakis or Stephen Barnett so that we can troubleshoot the specific problem.
4.) How can students log-in to Moodle?
Student will log in using firstname.lastnameMMDD as the user name. The MM is the month they were born, and the DD is the day they were born. The password is the same as their lunch code.
5.) How can we keep our students from cheating when all of the tests and quizzes will be available in Moodle for the students to print out and keep?
There is no way to stop cheating 100% of the time. There are steps we can take to make it more difficult for those students who wish to try and cheat. In Moodle, you can set your tests and quizzes to only be accessed during certain times. You can also set passwords before the students can access them. The tests and quizzes can also be set so that only one question shows on each page, so a student would have to print out each page individually to get the whole test.
6.) What is the best website to create a blog?
There are many to choose from. I prefer blogger.com, but there is also wordpress.com, tumblr.com, and weebly.com, as well as a few others.
7.) I downloaded a file on my MacBook, but I can't find it. Where is it?
You can use the Finder program to locate the file. First, open up Finder on your Mac. It should be located in the dock on the bottom of the screen in the far left corner. Click "Downloads" on the left hand side of Finder, and then type in the name of the file in the search bar. If you don't know the name, look through the download files to see if you can locate it.
8.) I can't get a video to play on my MacBook. What can I do?
First, you will want to make sure your Quicktime player is updated. Go to http://apple.com/quicktime/download and install the latest version. If the video does still not work, please see the GSHS Tech Team.
